Husky Safaris to the Wilds of North
Siberian Huskies–your new best friends
Huskies are an ancient breed with a passion for running. Here at Kamisak they lead happy lives pulling sleds. Join our trips and you’ll get to drive a dog sled yourself! And, if you take longer trek you’ll have a chance to bond with your jolly dog team. You’ll find a warm-hearted personality behind the ice blue eyes of a husky.
Good to know before taking one of our horse excursions
People in the arctic wilderness have travelled on dog sleds for centuries. The dogs would pull the sleds as the village men went fishing and hunting, and helped to chase the prey. People trusted the instincts and intelligence of the sled dogs. One would make it home, no matter what the weather, terrain or distance was like. In a snow storm people trusted their lives to their sled dogs.
A WINTER DAY WITH THE HUSKIES
We’ll put on harnesses and head for the wintry landscape with our enthusiastic runners. Driving a sled is so much fun when the terrain and views change. When we get back, we’ll have some lunch or coffees in the Lappish kammi (Sami hut) by a camp fire. During our eventful day, you’ll get to know our Siberian Huskies and hear stories about these arctic runners. Who knows, you might even meet some new-born huskies…
OVERNIGHT HUSKY EXCURSION
The Overnight excursion gives you a chance to truly experience the joys of driving a husky sled. Enjoy nature far from the hustle and bustle of ski centres and spend a night in an authentic wilderness cabin. Definitely worth it, even if you were on a short holiday in Lapland.
The Lappish nature invites you to celebrate Christmas. Welcome the New Year under the arctic sky and fireworks.
POLAR NIGHT DREAM
The polar night may not be as dark as you thought. It is colourful and bright, a mystical spectacle. The moon has replaced the sun that is only a feeble red reflection in the horizon. Snow glistens under the moonlight and stars. The aurora have painted the sky in rainbow colours. These are the most spectacular lights you’ll ever see.
WILDERNESS HUSKY TOUR
The spring arrives and the sun wakes nature up again. You’ll see animal tracks on the snow, maybe even a glimpse of the creature itself. This warm period of the winter is a good opportunity to take a relaxing dog sled tour. The days are long with bright sunshine. Remember to put on some sun screen. This is a perfect family excursion! We always try to fulfil any special requests, so just ask.
Join our small expedition and drive your sled through the northern wilderness. On the way, you’ll see the mighty Lake Inari and have many more unforgettable experiences. You are a true musher!
